Position Overview:
The Middle School Math Teacher will be responsible for designing and delivering rigorous, standards-aligned mathematics instruction that develops students' conceptual understanding, problem-solving skills, and mathematical fluency. The teacher will assess student progress against Wisconsin Academic Standards and collaborate with colleagues, school leaders, and families to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment where all scholars build strong math foundations for academic success and future readiness.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and implement engaging, standards-aligned math lessons consistent with Wisconsin Academic Standards for middle school
  • Use formative and summative assessments to monitor and evaluate student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students, including those requiring intervention or enrichment
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and culturally responsive classroom environment that encourages critical thinking and perseverance
  • Integrate real-world applications and technology to enhance math learning and student engagement
  • Collaborate regularly with instructional teams and participate in ongoing professional development
  • Maintain frequent communication with families regarding academic progress and behavior
  • Support school-wide math goals and contribute to a college- and career-ready culture

Requirements

  • Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field (required)
    • Valid Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) teaching license or eligibility to obtain licensure in middle school mathematics (required)
    • Strong knowledge of middle school math content and effective instructional strategies
    • Experience working in urban education or high-needs schools (preferred)
    • Commitment to educational equity and culturally relevant pedagogy
    • Excellent classroom management, communication, and organizational skills
