Job Description

This position is responsible for safely and efficiently operating various pieces of heavy mobile equipment including but are not limited to Motor Graders, Dozers, Excavators, Backhoes, Compaction Equipment, Scrapers, and Wheel Loaders in support of safe and efficient completion of construction projects. Essential Job Accountabilities include safely operating heavy equipment to excavate, move, load and grade earth, rock, gravel, and other materials; performing activities such as road building, fine grading, finishing, sloping, banking, backfilling, demolition, ditching, loading, excavating, stockpiling, road surface maintenance, building and maintaining road berms, loading trucks, and trenching; operating heavy equipment in accordance with company safety policies and procedures; ensuring operation of equipment is within capabilities and limitations; performing required safety inspections and completing documentation; maintaining a clean and safe job site; and performing other duties as assigned. Education preferred is High School Diploma, GED or equivalent years of experience. Prior experience operating heavy equipment in construction environment is required. Knowledge of earthwork, road and highway construction is preferred. Skills include ability to operate equipment within designated area with attention to detail, ability to work various shifts including day, swing, and night shifts, ability to work in all weather conditions, ability to work in safety sensitive construction settings, ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, and physical ability to squat, crawl, and work in awkward positions/confined spaces. Physical demands include physical dexterity, stamina, excellent hand-eye coordination, ability to grasp, assemble, lift objects, stand, sit, walk for extended periods over uneven surfaces, squat, bend, climb ladders, and lift/push/pull heavy items weighing up to 50 lbs or more.
